RTU (Profield)
The devices of the ProField family are not only designed to supervise transformer substations and power distribution networks, but are also used in our electronic control board (ELPULT) as well.
The ProField bay unit is designed for data collection and for completing control commands. The recently developed intelligent three phase measuring unit enables direct reception of current and voltage transducer signals and calculates all requested characteristics with high accuracy. Other specialized units are available which are used to monitor transformers or measure absolute phase angle. The field units usually communicate via a dual-redundant optical data transmission loop but the latest processor module supports other TCP/IP-based networks too.
The ProField head unit works as a data acquisition unit by collecting data from bay units and other intelligent units (protecting and measuring units) and sending them to the dispatch centre. While the early versions of the head unit supported only RS232 standard serial connections, the latest versions offer the possibility of TCP/IP connections using the CM module. With the help of this module, communications based on IEC 60870-5-104 and 61850 standards can also be supported. To support the construction of integrated remote dispatching centres (using TCP/IP connections) the formerly installed RTUs have been equipped with CM modules. Following the official testing at KEMA, the IEC 61850 Conformance Certificate has been awarded for the Profield IED product of Prolan.
The firmware of the ProField RTU is continuously developed based on customer needs. Our interlock handling automation can be used instead of the conventional relay interlocking. The ProView Desk is a great solution for emergency control in power systems without additional devices. Our latest module is the AP module used for measuring absolute phase angle. ProField RTUs equipped with radio communication are used to monitor and control pole circuit breakers remotely.
Radio communication can be used to supervise technologies where the transmitted data is relatively small. The device can communicate with an FM radio or through GPRS service.
